UPSC conducted the NDA & NA (2) 2019 Written Exam in Offline mode on 17th November 2019 (today). Based on the difficulty level of the questions in both the papers – Mathematics & General Ability Test (GAT), we have guestimated the Cut-Off Marks of UPSC NDA & NA (2) 2019 Written Exam. UPSC NDA & NA (2) 2019 Exam was held for the recruitment of total 415 vacancies in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA). Let’s first look at the exam pattern which was followed in UPSC NDA & NA (2) 2019 Written Exam:

UPSC NDA & NA (2) 2019 Written Exam (17th November 2019)

UPSC NDA & NA (2) 2019 Written Exam consisted of two Papers – Mathematics & general Ability Test (GAT) consisting of objective multiple choice questions of total 900 Marks. The exam was held in offline mode. There was negative marking of 1/3rd marks for wrong answers. The time duration of Paper-1 & 2 was 2 Hours 30 minutes each:

After clearing the cut-off marks, candidates are advised to look at the below points for further selection procedures:

SSB Interview (900 Marks): UPSC prepares a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the Commission at their discretion. Such candidates shall appear before a Services Selection Board for Intelligence and Personality Test where candidates for the Army/Navy wings of the NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy will be assessed on Officers Potentiality and those for the Air Force in addition to the above will have to qualify Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS). Candidates with Air Force as one of the choice would also undergo CPSS if they qualify SSB and are willing.

Final Selection: Qualified candidates will then be placed in a single combined list on the basis of total marks secured by them in the Written Examination and the Services Selection Board Tests. The final allocation/selection for admission to the Army, Navy, Air Force of the National Defence Academy and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy will be made upto the number of vacancies available subject to eligibility, medical fitness and merit-cum-preference of the candidates.

As India’s highly respected recruitment body, the Union Public Service Commission has several responsibilities. From conducting examinations to finalising the exam pattern and publishing the results to carrying out the subsequent recruitments.

The number of candidates appearing for UPSC competitive exams is large in number. Thus, it is important for every candidate to prepare each and every area of the paper thoroughly and diligently.

UPSC has announced several vacancies in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Defences Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA). Candidates will have to appear for examinations and physical/medical tests to be recruited into any of the wings.

To fill up the 415 vacancies, the UPSC NDA & NA (2) exam will be conducted. It will be a written examination, wherein candidates will have to appear for two papers –

  • The first paper will be on Mathematics. Here candidates will be given a time period of two hours and thirty minutes to attempt 120 questions. The paper will carry 300 marks.
  • The second paper is called the General Ability Test or GAT. This includes questions from English and General Knowledge. Candidates will also be given a time limit of 2 hours and 30 minutes for this paper which will be for 600 marks.

UPSC NDA and NA (2) 2019

The English portion of the General Ability Test will comprise of 200 marks. It can be a very scoring portion for candidates if they are thoroughly prepared with all the important topics. Candidates must make a note of the important parts and practice English every day to score better marks.

The questions based on the English subject will test an overall understanding of the candidates. It is based on a candidate’s understanding of the usage of words, grammar, vocabulary and such other aspects.

Here are some the important topics that the candidate should be preparing for the English General Ability Test –

  • Vocabulary – Synonyms and Antonyms (16 questions)
  • Grammar usage – spotting errors in a sentence (10-12 questions)
  • Sentence Arrangements – Jumbled sentences (14 questions)
  • Comprehension – 2 sets of reading comprehension (8-10 questions)

Candidates preparing for this exam can also make a note of some important points for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 –

  1. Both the papers will constitute of objective questions only.
  2. The papers will be bilingual. Candidates will have the choice to attempt the paper either in English or Hindi.
  3. Usage of calculators or a logarithmic table will not be permitted to the candidates for the maths exam.
  4. There will be negative marking for both the papers. 0.33 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  5. The qualifying marks for both the papers will be fixed by the commission owing to its discretionary powers.

Candidates must continue their preparation keeping these points in mind. A bonus tip about the English preparation is that reading regularly will help candidates improve on their grammar and vocabulary.

UPSC Result NDA, NA 2019 | The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the result of National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) written examination. The PDF versions of UPSC NDA Result 2019 were uploaded on the Commission’s official website upsc.gov.in. The UPSC Result 2019 can also be downloaded through the direct URL.

The UPSC conducted National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) written examination on April 21 for granting admission to selected candidates depending on their overall performance to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of the National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC).

According to information available in the official press note of UPSC NDA, NA Result 2019, the scorecard of qualifying candidates will be uploaded on the Commission’s website within 15 days from the date of publication of final result. Further, it has mandated all the shortlisted candidates of UPSC NDA Result 2019, UPSC NA Result 2019 to complete registration process for subsequent interview round at Indian Army Recruiting website at joinindianarmynic.in within two weeks. Further communication regarding allotted selection centres and dates for interview will be provided to candidates on their registered email IDs.
