BCECEB Counselling Registration 2019 Begins: As per the official notification, the BCECEB Counselling Registration process has commenced for admission to agriculture colleges based in the state. As per the notification, the online registration process for counselling has commenced today. The current counselling process will be held by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) for admission to 50% seats of Pharmacy, Medical and Agriculture Courses offered at Agriculture Colleges based in the state. NDA will Win All seats in Bihar Bypolls, Says Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan

New Delhi: BJP ally and Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Friday that the ruling NDA will win all seats going to Lok Sabha and Assembly bypolls in Bihar on October 21, asserting that a “divided and discredited” opposition stands no chance.

Polls will be held in five Assembly seats and the Lok Sabha constituency of Samastipur as incumbent MLAs were elected to Parliament during the recent general election while MP Ram Chandra Paswan died of a heart attack.

All three NDA parties — BJP, JD(U) and LJP — are involved in the elections. While the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) is contesting in four Assembly seats, the BJP and the LJP have put up their candidate in an Assembly and the Lok Sabha seat respectively.

Ram Chandra Paswan’s son Prince Raj is fighting from Samastipur.

“All our candidates will emerge victorious. We have run a united campaign and people have full faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kumar,” LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan said.

The opposition ‘mahagathbandhan’ (grand alliance) is divided and discredited, he added.

With unity eluding the grand alliance, some of its partners have put up their candidates after its two main partners, RJD and the Congress, divided all the seats between them.

His party, he said, has also deployed its workers to campaign for the BJP in Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly polls. He expressed confidence that the saffron party will retain power in both the states.

Patna floods: High court lawyer files complaint against Nitish Kumar, Sushil Modi and others

A complaint was filed against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi over the recent floods in Patna that left the city paralysed for more than a week. Several state ministers and Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials have also been named in the complaint.

The complaint was filed in the court of Patna Chief Judicial Magistrate under several sections of the IPC including 302 (murder) and (120B) criminal conspiracy. The complainant, an advocate at High Court, has sought action against Kumar, Modi and others for inaction during the crisis.

Besides Kumar and Modi, those who have been named in the complaint include Cabinet minister Suresh Kumar Sharma, PMC Mayor Sita Sahu, Commissioner Amit Kumar Pandey, Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited Managing Director Amrendra Prasad Singh, Ex-UDD principal secretary Chaitanya Prasad and Ex-Patna Commissioner Anand Kishor.

The complainant said that several people lost their lives and government and private properties worth over Rs 100 crore were damaged due to the ‘man-made’ flood. He said that flooding in the capital was caused due to the non-maintenance of the drainage system and the failure of the government machinery.

Patna, the capital of Bihar, was flooded a few weeks ago after heavy rains lashed the city and neighbouring districts. The posh Rajendra Nagar, Kankarbagh localities were waterlogged for almost a week. The historic Gandhi Maidan, busy Dak Bungalow Chauraha were also inundated.

The complainant claimed that even after 18-20 days of flooding, some of the affected areas were water-logged.

As many as 73 people lost their lives in different districts of the state due to floods in September.

Test cricket is the format that brings out the best in cricketers but it certainly isn’t managing to bring people to stadiums in India. The recent Ashes series between England and Australia witnessed houseful stands but in India, Test cricket is going the Ranji Trophy way – with empty stands greeting the players more often than not.

The third Test of the India-South Africa series will be played in Ranchi from October 19 but the Jharkhand State Cricket Association already knows that not too many people will be turning up to watch the game.

Till Thursday, according to a report in The Indian Express, JSCA had managed to sell just 1500 tickets for the game, which will be played at Ranchi’s 39000-capacity stadium. The low sales have come despite the association trying to keep ticket prices affordable with Rs 250 per day being the lowest.

The new JSCA president, Nafis Khan said: “Next time, maybe we have to think twice before hosting a Test match. At the same time, we can’t say no also. If the state associations start rejecting Test cricket, the purest form of the game would die. It’s very sad to see empty stands. We have to make certain changes to the Test format.”

India doesn’t make it easy for spectators either. At Pune, only a handful of spectators thought it was worth their while to turn up to watch India make history. The stands are not covered and the heat means that watching – forget enjoying – is not a good experience.

School children were given free tickets in Pune and they added to the atmosphere a bit but they too were forced to sit in the harsh sun for the entire day. In Ranchi too, JSCA has distributed 5,000 complimentary tickets to the CRPF and another 10,000 tickets to schools, clubs and academies.

But it won’t be enough. Test cricket in India has long been in decline as a spectator sport. Its appeal to the modern Indian fan is limited. T20 cricket and ODIs are a party but what does Test cricket at the stadium really offer to the fan?

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Friday said that the coal companies should follow the norms and develop parks where mining has been completed.

In a meeting with Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi in Ranchi, the Chief Minister said: “People have no option but to live in dust in mining areas. We should make efforts to get them rid from dust”.

“As per the norms park or public utility places should be developed in the areas where mining has been completed. But such norms are being ignored. The dust is causing hazardous diseases among people,” said the Chief Minister.

Das also demanded that the people who were displaced due to mining should be given jobs.

The Union minister agreed to give jobs to the displaced people.

“One person in each family whose lands were acquired for mining in the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) areas would be given job as per the qualification,” Joshi said.

The Coal Minister also agreed that Coal India subsidiaries will do Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities as per the priorities of the state government.

Bihar Politician Drives Garbage-Laden Tractor Trolley Sans License, Fined.

PATNA: Bihar politician Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav was fined on Thursday for driving without a valid license a tractor trolley full of garbage that he threatened to dump in front of a state minister’s residence in Patna, police said.

Mr Yadav, a controversial former MP who has floated the Jan Adhikar Party (JAP), said he did this in protest against the state government’s “failure” to check the outbreak of dengue, which has afflicted more than 200 people in the city since the beginning of this month when heavy rain had left many pockets water-logged for several days.

The police said he was stopped and fined Rs. 5000 as he was carrying a license to drive light motor vehicles, which was expired in 2017, and not one to drive heavy vehicles.

“I have been deprived me of my fundamental right to register a protest. I have a license but they have come up with the challan on a flimsy ground that the one I possess did not qualify me for driving a heavy vehicle,” Mr Yadav said.

The JAP leader who had hogged the limelight when he moved on boats through the water-logged streets distributing food, drinking water, clothes and money a fortnight ago, collected trash from densely-populated localities and loaded it in the tractor trolley with the help of his supporters.

Mr Yadav also sprinkled bleaching powder at garbage dumps after collecting the waste to underscore that the authorities concerned were not doing enough to control the outbreak of vector-borne diseases.

He was, however, stopped a few kilometres ahead of the residence of Urban Development Minister Suresh Sharma by the police.

The men in uniform asked the former MP to furnish his driving license and handed over a challan to him and he failed to produce a valid one, police said.

“I would have derived no pleasure out of throwing dirt at the doorstep of the minister. But I did want him to have a feel of the hellish condition in which the people of the city are living,” Mr Yadav told reporters.

This was a ploy to deter him from lending his voice to the people of Patna who have been suffering, Mr Yadav claimed.

“This government has skewed priorities. It splurges billions of rupees on publicity while hospitals lack the kit used to transfuse platelets for want of funds,” he alleged.

“I will, however, keep raising my voice against the government”s insensitivity in whatever way it is possible. I shall also purchase a platelet transfusion kit from my own resources and donate it to the IGIMS (Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital here,” Mr Yadav declared.
